Obituary of Roy Haskel Savage

BEDFORD - Roy Haskel Savage, 87, Former Bedford City Councilman passed away Friday, July 13, 2018 at an area hospital.

Graveside Service:  11 a.m. Wednesday, July, 18, 2018 at Dallas - Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pky., Dallas Texas.

Visitation:  Their will not be a formal visitation, however, friends may stop in at Forest Ridge Funeral Home - Memorial Park Chapel, 8525 Mid-Cities Blvd. in North Richland Hills daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. to sign the memorial register.

Memorials:  The family respectfully requests that donations in lieu of flowers be made to the Roy Savage Memorial Fund at www.TMCFunding.com.

Roy was born August 28, 1930 to David and Effie Savage in Sumpter, Arkansas.  He proudly served in the United States Air Force and was stationed at the former Carswell Air Force Bace in Fort Worth.  After his service Roy entered the financial field where he sold live insurance insurance.  Roy was a 32nd degree Mason and belonged to the Richland Hills Masonic Lodge.  He was active in many civic clubs including the Mid-Cities Optimist Club and gave freely of his time to Santa USA.  In honor of Mr. Roy Savage’s many accomplishments and commitment to the City of Bedford, Central Pool in Bedford was renamed the Roy Savage Pool at Central Park.

Survivors:  Wife, Katie, son, James Roy "Jim" Savage Sr. and his wife Gloria Savage, two grandsons, James Roy Savage, Jr. and John David Savage.
