Allen was born in Dumas, Texas to Arthur “Bud” and Shirley Cummins (Pierce) on February 24, 1958. The family later moved to White Deer, Texas where Allen would graduate High School in 1976 and graduate from Aero Tech in Wichita Falls, Texas. He wanted to be a pilot but his color blindness took him down another path and that of an airline mechanic. Allen would move from a mechanic to leader in maintenance programs, maintenance control and quality control. He would have a long aviation career of 38 years with American Eagle Airlines.
Allen met, married and began a family with Theresa Hill. They had one son, Nathan Cummins before Theresa was taken from this world too soon. He eventually would find love again with Sherrie Baggett in 2000. Allen was preceded in death by his father, Arthur “Bud” Cummins and first wife, Theresa Hill Cummins.
Survivors: Allen is survived by his wife, Sherrie Cummins of the home; son, Nathan Cummins and wife, Jessica of Amarillo, Texas; his mother, Shirley Cummins Pierce of White Deer, Texas; two brothers, Arthur “Art” Cummins and wife, Debbie, of San Antonio, Texas and Troy Cummins and wife, Hope, of Manvel, Texas; sister, Cindy Price and husband, Tim Price of Amarillo, Texas. Step sons Jacob Baggett and wife Linda of Hendersonville, Tennessee and Anthony Baggett and wife Kristina of Dalton, Georgia. Grandchildren: Corbin Cummins, Christian Baldridge, Layla Laney, David Baggett, Ryan Baggett and Collin Baggett.
Allen was one of the most patient, thoughtful and laid-back people you would meet. He was a proud father and grandfather. He was an avid lifelong golfer, a die-hard Rangers fan and enjoyed solving crossword and jigsaw puzzles to pass the time. Allen’s calming presence and reassurance will be greatly missed and never replaced.
