Terry Youngblood

Obituary of Terry Lee Youngblood

Terry Lee Youngblood, 81, of Bedford entered the arms of his Heavenly Father on Sunday, March 8, 2020. Terry was born into a farming family on March 19, 1938, in Marshalltown, IA, to Carl and Lois Youngblood. He graduated from Albion High School in 1956 and received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from California State University, Los Angeles, in 1965, and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Iowa, becoming the first member of his family to attend college. He met the love of his life, student nurse Carol Lou Davis, as she treated him after an injury on the job at a foundry in Marshalltown. They married in The Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA, on October 22, 1960. God blessed them with two children, both of whom have accepted the Lord as their Savior, as have their spouses and children. Terry was on track to become an officer in the United States Marine Corps following graduation from Cal State, but he chose to focus on his young family -- although his passion for the Marines never waned. A hallmark of his diverse career -- including farming, engineering, executive, and entrepreneurial opportunities that took him to many states -- was his sacrificial support of his family and his strong sense of integrity. A key part of Terry’s life was his faith, including volunteering at churches in the communities where they lived and attending classes at seminaries in the North Texas area. He cherished his time with his wife as well as his grandchildren, spending many afternoons helping them with homework, sneaking some ice cream, or watching their favorite TV show. Terry was preceded in death by his parents, and is survived by his beloved wife of almost 60 years, Carol; his son, Randy (Kim), of Sierra Vista, AZ; his daughter, Teresa (Brian), of Bedford, TX; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; his sister, Geri (Jim), of Sun City Center, FL; and numerous other extended family and friends who share a strong sense of respect and admiration for a life well-lived.
