Obituary of Mark Alan South

Mark Alan South died peacefully in his Fort Worth, TX home on 03/04/2020 at the age of 52. Mark is survived by his father, Jim South, stepmother, Debbie South, brother Mike South and sister-in-law Jessica South, his stepsister Susan Ruiz and stepsister, Julia Christian and husband Phillip Christian, his grandfather (Paw Paw), James South, stepsister Holly Cartwright and husband John Cartwright, and stepbrother Jason Poole and wife Arin Kent-Poole. He is also survived by an extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins and many friendships. He was preceded in death by his mother, Carolyn Moore and his stepfather, George Moore, grandmother (Granny) June Insall, grandfather (Granddady) Herman Insall, and grandmother (Grannygan), Sophie South Mark was born on January 23, 1968 in San Antonio, Texas to Jim and Carolyn South and graduated from L.D. Bell High School in Hurst, Texas in 1985. Mark worked as a superintendent in the residential and commercial construction industries for many years building single family homes, schools, churches and a variety of retail and fast food restaurants. His love of building things began in his early life of erector sets, fort apache sets and anything that could be assembled. He had a magnificent memory for details and delighted in also offering to help family and friends with home remodeling projects. His wit and charm will be remembered by his family and friends with his fun loving “gotta go” and never-ending focus of always figuring out how to do it “his way”. A celebration of Mark’s life is scheduled for Sunday, March 8, 2020 at Forest Ridge Funeral Home in North Richland Hills, Texas. The memorial service will begin at 2:00 PM and all are welcome to attend and celebrate Mark’s life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to a favorite charity in memory of Mark.
