Obituary of Patrick Harry Blood

Patrick "Pat" Blood, 79, passed away peacefully with his family at his bedside on February 19th, 2020 in Fort Worth, TX. Pat was born on August 9, 1940 in Batesville, AR to Harry and Genevieve Blood. He married the love of his life, Elaine Reznicek, on July 11, 1970 in Fort Worth, later settling and raising their family in Bedford. He began his career with Itek Corporation, and later established his own printing business. Pat umpired softball for the City of Hurst for over twenty years, and served as Umpire-In-Chief. Pat was an active member of First United Methodist Church of Hurst for over forty years, and a longtime member of the Agape Sunday School class. Pat spent his free time fishing, camping, playing card games and dominoes. His greatest joy was spending quality time with his family and attending his kids’ and grandkids’ extracurricular activities. At the end of every day, Pat loved watching Wheel of Fortune with Elaine and savoring her home-cooked meals. Pat was kindhearted, compassionate, and a friend to everyone he encountered. Pat is survived by his wife, Elaine; children Jeffrey Blood (Paula) of Sylvania, OH, Alicia Blood of Bedford, TX; Jennifer Boyett (Ray) of Fort Worth, TX; siblings George Blood of Bel Air, MD, Earl Blood (Darlene) of Georgetown, TX, Judith Hanson (Jim) of Irving, TX; grandchildren Dillon Blood, Ben Costanzo, Jaeden and Bay Boyett; and numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends. Pat is preceded in death by his father, Harry (Martha Sue), and his mother, Genevieve Downes (Jess). A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, February 29th at 11:00 AM at First United Methodist Church of Hurst with Rev. Philip Rhodes officiating. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Pat’s life.
