Obituary of John G. Chesnut

John passed away November 26, 2019 in Grapevine. He was born December 2, 1946 to Nathaniel and Willie Corrine (Peggy) Chesnut in Wagener, SC. Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife Linda of Grapevine, son Patrick Chesnut of Grapevine, daughter Lindsay Chesnut of Denton, siblings Mike Chesnut, Jo Ann Dearman and Kathy Chesnut all of Mississippi and grandson Brayden Chesnut. Memorial services will be 2:00p.m.  January 11, 2020 at Forest Ridge Funeral Home.

John grew up in Morton, MS and graduated from Morton HS in 1965. He attended East Central Jr. College for 2 years. After college he began working for F.W. Woolworth. While at Woolworth in Mesquite, TX, he met and married Linda, an elementary teacher in Mesquite. They went on to have two children, Lindsay and Patrick. John also worked for Woolworth in St. Louis, MO for 2 years, and then made the decision to train with Michael's Arts and Crafts. He took a store in Tyler, Texas and the family lived there until he was promoted to Regional Manager and the family moved to Chicago, IL. After 1 year the regional office was moved back to Texas. Southlake was the family's new home.

After 15 years with Michael's, John opened a store called Country Clutter. It was an enjoyable venture, but he was forced to close it after a few years. He then went on to work for Family Dollar until he retired in 2017.

Some of John's interests besides work were fishing, traveling with family, and relaxing in his rocking chair, listening to music, and channel surfing on the television. In his later years, he enjoyed spoiling his kitty, and spending time with family.
