Anna Walker

Obituary of Anna L Walker

Anna Lucille Walker joined our Lord & Savior on Tuesday May 28, 2019. She was born
August 18, 1921 to Edward Upchurch and Ollie Lucretia Craft. Anna was the surviving
twin born in Albany, Clinton County, Kentucky at home. She was their fifth child.
Anna & Ernest H. married in Kentucky. During WWII they moved to Glendale, California
where Anna worked as a paint tester on airplanes at Hamilton Aircraft Factory. In 1950
the family moved to Weatherford, Texas after Ernest return from WWII. The couple
raised the two girls in Weatherford until the time of Ernest death in 1960. Ernest and
Anna had purchased a ranch in Lipan, Texas that she continued to maintain for 68
years.
As a single parent she moved to Richland Hills, Texas, purchased a house, and made
sure both daughters graduated from college.
Anna married Kenneth C. Walker on August 1, 1964. The couple spent almost 50 years
together in Richland Hills, Texas. She attended classes for cattle and land conservation
through Texas A&M University and received the Absentee Award for “Best Farm” in
1974.
Through the years she made all her girls clothes, quilted, painted, upholstered furniture,
worked in the yard with her flowering plants, traveled, loved politics and reading about
Theodore Roosevelt among others. One of Anna’s quilts was on exhibit at Thistle Hill;
she was very proud of her quilts. In later years her friends called her the “Bingo Queen”
for her ability to play three cards at once while checking the cards of her neighbors on
both sides. Anna enjoyed conversations with friends while coloring, getting her nails and
hair done, shopping, and meals out.
She was known for her generous, sweet nature, and gentle heart. She will remain in our
hearts forever. One of her favorite things she would say after a visit was to “come see
her.” We will see her again in Heaven.
Anna is survived by her daughters Sheila Richardson and Paula Pippin; her son-in-law’s
Gerald Richardson and Gregory Pippin; her grandson John Richardson and his wife
Amber; her granddaughter Kelly Pippin; and her great granddaughter Sophia
Richardson. She loved her family deeply and will be missed.
There will be a private graveside burial service for Anna at the DFW Veterans Memorial
Cemetery on June 6 th .
