Obituary of Jane Ardis Sage
Jane Ardis Sage, 90, of Bedford, Texas died April 17, 2019. She was born on February 7, 1929 in Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence Walker Failor and Ethel Nelson Failor. During her early years she attended schools in Maywood, Cook County, Illinois; Poughkeepsie, Dutchess County, New York and Leonia, Bergen County, New Jersey as her father pursued his career in Education. She enjoyed spending time with her grandparents, aunts, and cousins in Iowa and recounted many fond memories of these visits particularly after the death of her mother in 1941. Her father re-married in 1942 and the family continued living in Leonia where she graduated from the eighth grade in the Leonia Grammer School in 1943.
Jane started high school in Aurelia, Cherokee County, Iowa, living with her grandparents, while her family was moving to Arvada, Jefferson County, Colorado. She later joined them there and graduated from the Arvada High School in 1947. Following this, she attended Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado. She was an active member of the Delta Zeta Sorority. She met her future husband, Wayne Sage, while both were attending the university. They were married on September 1, l949 at her parents home in Arvada, Colorado.
Following her husband’s graduation, the couple moved to Akron, Washington County, Colorado where he had accepted employment. While they were living in Akron, the couple’s two daughters, Amy and Lisa, were born.
In 1957 the family moved to Broomfield, Colorado to allow her husband to pursue his career and Jane became a full time mother and homemaker. They remained in Broomfield for almost 50 years, watching the community grow. Jane became an active member of the neighborhood and participated in school and girl scout activities. She did some volunteer work and enjoyed travel, camping, reading, music, sewing and puttering around the house. In 2005 Jane and her husband moved to Bedford, Texas to be near their daughters and grand children. Colorado was always near and dear to her heart.
Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne, her father, mother, adopted mother and a sister. She is survived by two daughters, Amy Vozar (Mark) and Lisa Powell (David). In addition she has three grandchildren: Laura Jensen (Matt), Sarah Carroll (Jarrod), and Aiden Powell. Inurnment will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Broomfield, Colorado.
