Obituary of Shirley Irene Wilson
Hurst- Shirley I. Wilson, 80, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 13, 2019.

Shirley was born on January 28, 1939 in Graford, Texas. She graduated from East Texas State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She married the love of her life, Ken Wilson, on June 4, 1963. Her teaching career began as a high school girls’ basketball coach in Olney, Texas. After two years, Shirley was hired in H-E-B ISD. She taught at Central Junior High (girls PE), Hurst Junior High (girls PE), Bell Manor Elementary (PE, 2nd, 3rd, 4th), and Wilshire Elementary (3rdand 4th). She touched many students’ lives in 37 years! After retiring, Shirley remained with H-E-B ten more years as a mentor to first year teachers. . . . a total of 47 years in education! After leaving the education field, Shirley volunteered at Harris HEB Hospital. She enjoyed working in her flowerbeds, playing cards with her Friday friends, attending Bible studies and church, and most of all spending time with her family! Her sweet spirit and beautiful smile will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Ken; her brother, Fred, Jr.; and her parents Fred and Ozell McCown.
Survivors:Daughters: Shelley Lofland-Wood and husband, Gary; Carla McGregor and husband, Collin; grandchildren: Luke, Shelbe, CJ, Sydney, and Lainey Lofland; Hannah and Meagan McGregor; great-grandson Lincoln; special friends Jim, Kathy, Amber, Aaron, Abbey, and Amanda; sister-in-law, Jerry; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
