Obituary of Donna Lee Lewis
Donna Walker Lewis, 84, passed away from pneumonia on Wednesday, April 10, 2019. She lived in Azle, Texas.
Donna was born in Olympia, Washington in 1934 and grew up on a farm on Mud Bay. She graduated from Olympia High School and joined the Air Force at age 18.
She met Don Lewis at radio school at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi and married him on December 23, 1953. They were stationed at Fairchild Air Force base in Spokane, Washington when their first child Rusty was born.
The family moved to North Richland Hills, Texas and had three more children: Laura, Ray, and Beth Ann. Donna was a stay-at-home mom raising their children until 1975 when she went to work at Tarrant County Community College.
After getting divorced in 1976, Donna moved to Seattle and worked at the University of Washington for 16 years. When she retired, she moved back to Texas and lived in Pelican Bay for the rest of her life, surrounded by family and friends.
Donna loved reading, crafting, camping, hiking, and anything involving nature.
She is survived by her three children, Laura, Ray, and Beth Ann; many grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
Donna’s half-brother, Warren Eugene Brown Jr., passed away the day after she did. Her parents, Warren and Vera Brown, and her son, Rusty Lewis, also preceded her in death.
Donna’s memorial service will be held at Forest Ridge Funeral Home, 8525 Mid-Cities Blvd. North Richland Hills, TX 76180 on Saturday, April 27 at 2pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge.
