Karen, I am so incredibly sorry for your loss. It was a such a shock to read about Larry's passing on the BNSF prayer list. I have such fond memories of working with Larry. He was one of my favorite people at the railroad. He worked in the same office area as me and he stopped by to chat every day. He made my day so much more interesting. Karen, it has been a long time since our visit with you and Angi Owen to see Larry at Clark College. I’ve passed Newton, Ms. many times since that trip in 1971 and every time thought or prayed for you and Larry. Grateful to the Lord for his sustaining hand in all these years in our lives and look to catching up in eternity with Larry and you in the arms of Jesus.
2 Timothy 2:11-13
11 The saying is trustworthy, for: If we have died with him, we will also live with him;
12 if we endure, we will also reign with him; if we deny him, he also will deny us;
13 if we are faithless, he remains faithful- for he cannot deny himself.

We considered every member of our group as family. We shared many fun fellowships and supported each other through our ups and downs of life. Larry had a strong faith in God & a heart for people. I know without a doubt that he is in the arms of Jesus. We will continue to pray for Karen, and your family, for strength, comfort & peace as you grieve. Cherish & take joy in your memories. So sorry to hear of Larry's passing. Please accept our condolences. I am not sure you remember us. We lived on Oak Knoll for a number of years and I worked for the railroad. One of our favorite remembrances from the neighborhood was one time we were at your place for a neighborhood party and our son Jon who didn't care for swimming when we lived in MN came with us and the next thing we knew he was diving into the pool. Many pleasant memories from our time in that neighborhood. We now live in AZ but are very close to moving back to Ft Worth to be by our son. May to comfort of the Lord be with you during this difficult time.

I worked side by side with Larry at church on many occasions setting up portable church. He was a great man with a great heart. Also served with him on a church committee. He was eager to share his life and experiences to help and encourage others. I had much respect for how he lived and how he loved. This world lost a great servant, but heaven gained a great one. Know that your family is in my thoughts and prayers.

Larry and Karen were two of the most dedicated volunteers I had the pleasure of serving with while I was Children's Director at Compass Church in Roanoke. Together, they served in the PreK/K classroom most every Sunday for years and were two of the most influential leaders in Avery & Ella's (my two oldest daughters) lives at that time.
They loved each and every kid they taught as if they were their own. They fully understood the importance of the work they were doing Sunday mornings and took the responsibility seriously. Nothing was haphazard. Together, they made it their mission to make sure that every child that they encountered knew that there was an amazing Father in heaven that loved them dearly. I can't put into words how amazing they were as a team.
I am so grateful that I got to know Larry and his dry sense of humor, the twinkle in his eye when he was up to something, and the way he enjoyed a good challenge. He was a no-nonsense guy whose love for Karen and their children was unmistakable. Do your part, behave respectfully and he'd love you too.
Haven't talked to him in years and yet somehow, knowing he's gone from this world makes me miss him like crazy. He's one I'll for sure look forward to seeing in heaven.
Rest in peace, Larry.
