Obituary of Bob Bradshaw
Bob Bradshaw age 79 of Colleyville, TX., passed away surrounded by his loving family on March 8, 2019. He will be dearly missed by his wife of 55 years Judy Bradshaw, son Russell Bradshaw, daughter Laura Bradshaw Foshee, son-in-law David Foshee, Jr., and grandson Eli Foshee, his two brothers Leo and Wayne Bradshaw, two sisters Janice Hines and Marcia Bradshaw, numerous nieces, nephews and many close friends. He is preceded in death Ira H. Bradshaw Jr. (Jimmy) and his sister Margaret Ann Bradshaw Griffin.
Bob was born to the late Ira and Ethel Bradshaw in Canton, Mississippi in a cotton field. In his early years, he would help on the family farm with his six brothers and sisters. After graduation from Canton High School, he joined the Navy where he served on two eastern Pacific tours on the USS Bon Homme Richard and the USS Lexington that allowed him to travel all over the Orient. During his time on shore, he hitchhiked from Washington State to San Diego and to Mississippi meeting people from all over the western and southern United States. Bob got to see a lot of this world from a perspective that most people have never had the opportunity to see.
After leaving the military and getting married, Bob went to work for Cottrell Company, Mensaco, and then worked for 34 years at Bell Helicopter in the production grinding department. Bob and the crew at Bell made sure that they had peak production and spare parts for Helicopters needed during the Vietnam era. He helped Bell Helicopter get a specific grinding process patented. While Bob was working at Bell Helicopter, he received his Associates Degree from Tarrant County Junior College studying Management and Supervision. After retiring, Bob continued to enjoy his many hobbies which included golf, scuba diving, metal detecting, playing cards, gardening, playing chess and watching Jeopardy. Bob was a Christian man who believed in putting God first, family and friends second and himself last.
A memorial service to celebrate Bob’s life will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at 11:00 am with a luncheon following at Damascus Baptist Church, 3964 Mississippi 22, Flora, MS 39071. Remembrances may be made to Damascus Baptist Church.
