He loved baseball and fishing. I remember fishing with him when I was around 10 years old. Hooks and lines were getting snapped and lost near the dock. He swam out to check it out. I swam out with a life jacket. He felt a log with his feet. He was able to stand up the log with his feet. He was going to try and move it away. But it fell against his leg and hooks got in his leg, starting to pull him under with the weight of the log. He told me to get away and go get grandma. They got the hooks out after a trip to the emergency room. Grandma explained then. But I really came to understand better with age and my own kids. How he got me away to protect me.
