Obituary of Billie Louise Hill
Today, we come together in celebration of the life of Billie Hill and to say farewell.
Billie was born in Mineral Wells in the fall of 19?? (She never liked revealing her age! She said we could each fill in the date we wanted!) She was born at the Old Crazy Horse Hotel, which was famous for their mineral water springs. Billie lost her mother to cancer when she was just a child, and was raised by her father Lloyd McCoy and stepmom. She married young and started a family of her own. While married to Jack, the love of her life for over 42 years until he passed in 2007, they had many family adventures that included camping, boating, fishing, hunting and hiking, with lots and lots of travel.
Billie was always a good-hearted and charitable person, and was always volunteering within her local communities. This included being a Cub Scout and Webelos Den Mother, and Brownies Troop Leader. Her husband Jack was in the Air Force, and Billie worked in the Military bases Brass Committees which worked tirelessly for the improvement of military servicemen’s lives at all the places Jack was assigned over his 25 plus years of active duty service. She also worked in the Squadron Wives Clubs to support Vietnam Veterans children’s Christmas programs, which was always sponsored by local businesses and retailers, under “Christmas In July” name. Billie also worked diligently at putting out church newspapers while they were stationed in Montana, to promote base activities for the family to participate in.
In addition to all of this, she always volunteered at her children’s schools, and later in life, continued to work and volunteer in her grandchildren’s schools. She attended high school and college in Texas, along with completing business and accounting certifications from LaSalle University of Illinois, and attending the Dental Assistant School of Ellsworth AFB, South Dakota.
Billie is survived by her daughter Phyllis Craver, her son David and his wife Mary Hill, grandchildren Jennifer Craver, Emily Craver, Nicole Hill and her husband Richard Ehlert, and Eric Hill. She also has three great grandchildren, Kaylie Craver, Devon Ehlert, and Liam Ehlert.
Billie was a Christian and always said she felt God’s presence and interaction in her life, and always felt she and her family were very blessed, which caused her to always and constantly give thanks to the Lord for those blessings. Billie’s request at her service, Was that everyone present be given the chance to know the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior, if they have not already. She asked that each of us say a simple prayer:
“Lord Jesus, I repent my sins and recognize you are the son of God, and that you died on the cross so that my sins may be forgiven. I ask that you come in to my heart and life and live with me always. You are my Savior now and always.-Amen”
If you prayed these words to the lord with all your heart, you will find comfort, peace, and everlasting life.
