Obituary of Virginia Owens

Virginia “Gina” Owens of SOUTHLAKE – Gina passed away peacefully on December 23, 2018. 

CELEBRATION OF LIFE will be on Saturday, January 5th at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Wortham, Texas with reception following. 

Gina was born on December 19, 1932 in Wortham to Benjamin Franklin Bounds and Minnie McLeod Bounds.  Gina met her husband Jim Owens at a Methodist Youth event in Wortham and they enjoyed 64 years of marriage prior to his death on November 14, 2018.  Gina was an accomplished pianist having played the piano since she was 3 years old and taught piano for over 30 years. Family and friend get togethers would always include sing a long with Gina at the piano. She was also a talented seamstress and wonderful cook, and she and Jim always made friends and family feel welcome in their home.  Gina was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend, and always served those in need and provided unconditional love to many. 

Gina is survived by daughter Kim Owens; daughter Stacy Owens Metzler and husband Gary P. Metzler, their children Lily, McLeod “Mac” and Chloe; and daughter Lori Owens French and her children Nick Sneed and Cassy French.  She is also survived by her Brother and Sister-in-law Bill and Frances Bounds, as well as many nieces and nephews.  The family would also like to give a special acknowledgement to Gina and Jim’s wonderful caregiver, Betty Kersh and her husband David.

MEMORIALS:  In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance in honor of Chloe E. Metzler www.tsalliance.org, or Susan G. Komen in memory of Gina Owens www.komengreaterfortworth.org.
