I was privileged to know Lowell since the early 1970's. He was a Lieutenant with the Dallas Police Department the first time we met and I recognized him to be an outstanding Police Leader. I was impressed with his command presence as well as his integrity and strong character.
I never heard him express a negative thought in all the years I knew him. He was a strong and honest man who loved people and served his community and his profession with honor and distinction.
To his family, I offer my condolences for his loss and I express my gratitude for having had the honor of serving with him.

I had the honor of serving as Chief Cannaday's XO for two years at Central Patrol. Moose was a good cop, an outstanding leader and an exceptional man. He was also my friend and I will miss him.

Chief Lowell Cannaday was one of the most caring and noble individuals I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. It was an honor working with him at DPD.

Lowell was one of the finest officers I ever knew. He was an outstanding man, & the only words to describe him - HE WAS THE BEST. It was truly a privilege to have known him, & I count him as a real, true friend. As a matter of fact, he was everybody's friend! He will be greatly missed. Heaven's Band of Blue has gained a real angel.

I was Honored and privileged to have known and worked with Lowell "Moose" Cannady. I have known him and considered him a friend since our early DPD Rookie days, well over 50 plus years. I was a member of the DPD Masonic Degree team when he was raised to Master Mason,I was his Admin. Sergeant for a short time in Youth & Family Crimes,I was a fellow member of the North Texas Chiefs of Police ,and the IACP. I worked and supported his run for Dallas County Sheriff. Our paths crossed at the DPD annual retiree's function's and events, ex. luncheon's,banquets, and picnics. It is sad to lose a fellow Worthy Brother and a Brother in Blue. Lowell was admired, loved, and respected by all who worked with him and knew him.The Law Enforcement Community has lost one of it's Finest, and he will be missed. My thought's and Prayers go out to Rose,Lowell's family, and his many, many friends. RIP my Worthy Brother, and May Godspeed my Brother in Blue on this your final Earthly Signal 66. John R. Allen,Retired DPD & Retired Alvarado PD.

I want to send you my sincere condolences. I worked for and with the Chief some 40+ years ago at Dallas PD. We last visited at the DPD Retiree's Banquet last April, as he sat next to me, and we had a good time telling war stories and visiting. He was a very respected Officer and a fine gentleman. It was my privilege to have known him. RIP sir!
