Obituary of Geoffrey R. King

Geoffrey R. King (Jeff)

10-15-1945 – 09-05-2018

Jeff was born in Paris, Texas to Dr. Charles King and Frances Hollingsworth King.  He studied at Lake Highlands High School and University of Texas at Arlington.  He joined the Marines and served in Viet Nam. After his service, he founded One Map Place, Inc. in Dallas, Texas.  He served as VFW District 21 Chaplain for 16 years, and as Post 4695 Chaplain and Quartermaster.  He was Chaplain of the District 21 VFW Honor Guard.  He loved working for, and with veterans.  Retirement brought on traveling and living the good life.  He bought a red AC Shelby Cobra and the smiles never stopped.  He had many hobbies including french horn and model trains.

Jeff's smile and friendliness left many friends and family with a deep sense of loss and shock when he died.  He was enjoying life recently with friends and family up until his sudden passing.  He and his wife Jeannie were blessed to have numerous close friends to share their life with.

Jeff leaves behind wife, Jeanne Allison King, sons Brian King, David Schlotterbeck, Robert Schlotterbeck, Jr., daughters Kristin Finley and Lisa Inkster. To say he was absolutely adored by these people, is an understatement.  He is also survived by his father Dr. Charles King and his wife Caroline, his brother Jim Kendrick and wife Debra, sisters Dorothy Coker and Susan Thomas and her husband Bill.

A Memorial Service will be Monday, September 10th at 11:00 AM at Martin United Methodist Church at 2621 Bedford Road, Bedford, TX.  Rev. Lara Franklin, Rev. Jim Van Rite and Dr Jerry Chism will preside.
