Obituary of Esther Joyce Francis

Funeral services for Esther Joyce Francis (87) of Brooklyn, NY will be held on Wednesday, August 15th, 2018 at Forest Ridge Funeral Home Memorial Park Chapel.  Visitation will begin at 12:00 pm – service starts immediately after at 1:00 pm.  Esther went home to be with the Lord on August 3rd, 2018 in Fort Worth, TX.  She was born on April 4th, 1931 to John Jones and Constance Husbands in Barbados, W.I.

In 1980 Esther migrated from Barbados to the U.S. in order to secure a better future for her kids. She worked several jobs but then followed her dreams to become a nurse. She worked with the New York Foundling Hospital as a Certified Nurses Aid where she became a second mother to some of her peers and the children she cared for. She had an excellent work ethic and rarely took a sick day. She retired at the age of 74.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her sons Michael Francis and his wife Jean of Long Island, NY, Carlton Francis and his wife Sophia of Brooklyn, NY, and Ian Francis and his wife Shonette of Barbados, W.I, daughters Ariel Francis of Arlington, TX, Charmaigne Francis of Keller, TX, Sharon Francis and her significant other Brynton of Bronx, NY and Sherry-Ann Francis-Martine and her husband Michel of Staten Island, NY.  Grandchildren Katrina, Jarreau, Akadia, Tiesha, Felicia, Brittney, Janelle, Dylan, Amarissa, Ian Jr., and Nathan and great grandchildren Kaitlyn and Kriston. Niece Jasmine, nephews Noel, Colvin and Archibald; great nephew Ray-Allan and devoted friend Eudora.  Esther is preceded in death by her husband Reynold Theophilus Francis in 2005. Son Jeffrey, brother Edward, sister Una and nephew Ucal.
