William A. Crossman, 95 of Bedford, Texas passed away on June 11, 2018.
Funeral service for Williams will be held Thursday, June 14, 11am at Forest Ridge Funeral Home Memorial Park Chapel, 8525 Mid Cities Blvd. North Richland Hills, Texas.
Interment will be held Thursday, June 14, 2pm at DFW National Cemetery 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway Dallas, TX 75211.
The author, William A. Crossman, (Bill) was born of Messianic Jewish parents ninety four years ago in a small Texas town called Sabine Pass on the Gulf of Mexico where his father was Harbor Master. When Bill was three years old, they moved to a small farm in Hitchcock, Texas. When Bill was three years old, they moved to a small town on Galveston Bay called La Porte. There Bill attended school and graduated from High School when he was seventeen years old. He attended Junior College and worked for three years.
The author, Bill is a WWII veteran (March, 1943 to March, 1946). He entered the Army while he was still nineteen. He saw service as a Combat Engineer in Company A 269th Combat Engineer Battalion attached to the 69th Infantry Division and saw action in European Theater of Operations. After the war ended, we were staged out south of Paris, put aboard ships in Le Havre and sent back to the U.S. While the convoy was still in the Atlantic, our airmen dropped atomic bombs on Japan (Hiroshima-August 6, 1945) (Nagasaki-August 9, 1945) and we knew that Japan would surrender.
Bill received a furlough and temporary service until he received an honorable discharge in March, 1946 and was sent home to Texas City, Texas where his family had moved during his stay in Army. There Bill returned to Civilian Status and went to work again. Here he met and married his wife of 71 years, Blanche Rose Haynes, the daughter of a Methodist Holiness Minister. Bill was told that the Government was canceling war contracts and layoffs were eminent and in order of seniority. He was advised to quit and return to his schooling since he lacked so little of finishing.
He took this as good advice and with the aid of the Veteran’s Administration enrolled at the University of Texas in Austin, Texas. Here he received a Degree in Chemical Engineering in February, 1950 and accepted a position with the General Electric Company at Hanford Nuclear Plant in Richland, Washington where they were Prime Contractor for the Government. He worked 18 years as an Engineer in the Separation Section and as a Supervisor in the Nuclear Reactor Section.
In 1968, he accepted a position with the Atomic Energy Commission, later named Nuclear Regulatory Commission in Atlanta, Georgia (Region II) in the construction of nuclear powered electrical generating plants. It was while in Atlanta that Bill received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit after receiving a powerful vision that he later titled “Knee Traveler”. He later transferred to Region IV in Arlington, Texas via Denver, Colorado.
Bill retired in 1985 and was able to devote full time to his first love writing, teaching and preaching the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ with his wife, Blanche.
It was during the stay in Georgia that Bill was blessed with healing miracle. It happened during a Kenneth Hagen crusade at a church called Straight-Gate in Columbus, Georgia. When he laid hands on Bill, Bill received the full strength of his left leg. After that, Bill and Blanche had an even greater desire to have this blessing (the laying on of hands) as a part of their ministry. Later, they had the opportunity of providing and operating the sound system for Kenneth Hagen Crusade in East Point, Georgia. After that, they were greatly blessed sharing printed material of the teachings of Kenneth Hagen.
They became involved in a unique street ministry in Tucker, Georgia that held their meetings in a furniture store. About this time, Bill began to tape some notable teachers so that 60 or 90 minute tape could be made available to those interested in their teaching.
One of the most memorable and enjoyable blessings we had while in Georgia was a gathering that called themselves Camp Farthest Out (CFO).
