Obituary of John Paul Davie
It is with great sadness that the family of John Paul Davie, 73, announces his passing in Bedford, TX on April 20, 2018. Known to his family and friends as Paul, he had lived in Texas with his wife of 25 years, Pam. He will be fondly remembered in a service to be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, June 25, 2018 at the Interlaken Reformed Church, 8315 N Main St, Interlaken, NY 14847. Following the service, there will be a celebration of Paul’s life at 1:00 p.m. at the Ramada Inn Geneva Lakefront, 41 Lake Front Dr., Geneva, NY 14456.

Paul was born December 17, 1944 in Geneva, NY, son of John Raymond and Margaret Davie. He graduated from DeSales High School in 1962, graduated with a B.A. Cum Laude in Psychology from St. Vincent College in Latrobe, PA in 1966, received graduate credits from the University of Rhode Island, SUNY Geneseo, and Elmira College before graduating with a M.S. in Education in 1990 from SUNY Brockport, and received his Permanent Certification as a School District Administrator from SUNY Brockport in 1991.
Paul taught at DeSales High School from 1969-1972 and also coached football, basketball, and baseball. He worked in the South Seneca School District from 1972-1999, teaching from 1972-1988 while also coaching football, wrestling, and baseball. From 1988-1999 he served in various administrative positions including: Dean of Students, Junior/Senior High School Principal, and Athletic Director. After a brief retirement, Paul’s love of teaching drew him back to the classroom in 2000 in Texas. He taught at L.D. Bell High School in the Hurst-Euless-Bedford School District from 2000-2010 before retiring for the second and final time. Through Paul’s love of teaching and coaching, his passion for the growth and development of teens, and his love and compassion for mankind, literally thousands of people have been touched by his leadership. His presence continues to be felt by the generations of teachers and coaches inspired by him.
Surviving are his wife, Pam Davie; his brother, Bob (Mary Lou) Davie; His sister-in-law, Janette Davie; his children, John (Shelby) Davie, Mike Davie, and Kate (Richard) Miyares; his step-children, Debbie (Jason) Knupp, Jennifer (David) Tompkins, Megan Daniels, and Amy Kuryla; his grandchildren, John Paul “Jack” Davie II, Jordan Tompkins, Kylie Davie, Savannah Knupp, Ryan Tompkins, Sydney Knupp, Keaira Knupp, and Ella Miyares; his cousins Charles “Bud” (Carol) Farley, Jack (Cindy) Farley, Bill (Liz) Farley; his nieces Mimi (Ken) Hoffman, Kathleen Bowes, and Kristin Davie; his nephews, John (Nisrine) Bowes, Zach (Lynnae) Davie, Chris (Tamala) Bowes, and Shawn (Fabio) Davie; and 7 great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by his mother and father, John R. (Jack) and Margaret Davie; his brother Bill (Janette) Davie; his maternal uncle Theodore (Doris) Lyon; and his godparents, Charles and Kathryn Dorothy Farley.
