Obituary of Willis Eugene Ussery

Willis (Gene) Ussery, 74, of Decatur, Texas, passed away on April 23, 2018.

 

Family services were planned for April 30th, at the Dallas/Ft. Worth National Cemetery. For friends and family, a Memorial Gathering will be held at 2pm on April 29th at The Flying V Ranch Event Venue, 297 County Road 1170, Decatur, Tx.

 

Gene was born in Picher, Oklahoma to Bub and Carlena Ussery on August 12, 1943.  He went to school at Picher High and then joined the US Navy after his birthday in 1960. He then met and married Billie Thornton on September 13, 1961 in Bell Gardens California. Gene was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served in the Navy as a 3rd Class Boatswain Mate for 4 years. Most recently he has worked the last 10 years as a Shop Manager for the Decatur Independent School District.

 

Gene is preceded in death by both is parents, Bub and Carlena, his brother Frank Ussery, son Randall Cahoon, and his great-grandson Hayden. 

 

Gene is survived by wife Billie Ussery: Daughters Deborah Collins and her husband Jeff Collins, and Kathy Morris: Sisters Geri Foster and Elizabeth Ussery: 12 Grandchildren: 20 Great-Grandchildren and 1 Great-Great Grandchild.

The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to David Medina at the Forest Ridge Funeral Home for guiding our family though this most difficult time. To the Corner Stone Baptist Church in Decatur, Pastor Ron Fox and the congregation for the prayers and love. We also want to thank Sherry Warner with the Flying V Ranch for providing a loving and beautiful place to celebrate the life of our husband, father, and grandfather Gene Ussery.
