Obituary of Colleen Kathleen Butterfield

Colleen Kathleen Morgan Butterfield died on Sunday, Feb 4 at age 85.

MEMORIAL: Liturgy of the Word funeral service to be held at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Grapevine at 11:00 AM on Feb 16, 2018. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to GRACE in Grapevine, a non-profit organization providing assistance to individuals and families in crisis, or to Defenders of Wildlife, a non-profit national conservation organization focused on wildlife and habitat conservation.

Colleen was born on St. Patrick’s Day in 1932 in Vancouver, WA and lived in Monterey, CA, San Francisco, Guam, Cincinnati, Louisville and St. Louis before Grapevine. Since being diagnosed with congestive heart failure many years ago she continued to be as active as possible.

Colleen was loved and admired by every one she met. She was truly one-of-a-kind, an unrelenting environmentalist and liberal. She spearheaded the Grapevine recycling programs in the 80s and was a Grapevine Volunteer of the Year

SURVIVORS: She is survived by her husband, Randall P Butterfield; four sons, Colin M Butterfield and wife, Susan Hamra, of Clayton, MO; Brian S Butterfield and wife, Sheryl, of Conifer, CO; Daniel J Butterfield and wife, Meredith, of Flower Mound, TX; and Alexander P Butterfield of Grapevine, TX; a sister, Helen Kenny, of Winchester, VA; and seven grandchildren, Edain, Kevin, Greg, Beckett, Brooks, Andrew and Kylie.

She is preceded in death by her son, Eric P Butterfield
