Obituary of William Raymond Campbell Sr.
William (Bill) Raymond Campbell, Sr. went to be with the Lord on January 21, 2018. He was 89.
All are cordially invited to visit with the family Thursday, January 25, 2018, from 10 - 11 AM at North Fort Worth Baptist Church, 5801 N I-35W, Fort Worth, TX 76131 (817 232-8210). A celebration of his life will follow at 11 AM in the Church Sanctuary. A private interment will follow for the family. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the North Ft Worth Baptist Church Missions Fund.
Bill was born in Tyler, Texas, on December 25, 1928, the second son of Baldwin and Dallis Campbell. He grew up in Tyler, where he attended secondary schools, graduating from John Tyler High School in 1946. He pursued higher education in Petroleum Land Management at Tyler Junior College and the University of Oklahoma.
Mr. Campbell was a 35-year employee of Exxon, having started his career with Humble Oil and Refining Company in 1950 at the Tyler office. He retired from Exxon as the Division Landman for the Southeastern Division in New Orleans, and later operated as an independent consultant to Arkla Exploration. He was a Certified Professional Landman and a member of the American Association of Petroleum Landmen since 1981.
When Bill retired from Exxon, he and his wife Caroline moved to Hurst, Texas to be near some of their children who live in the area. Bill was an ordained deacon and an active member of the North Fort Worth Baptist Church until he was physically unable to attend. He was a 32nd degree Mason and recently received his 60 year pin.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Caroline Walker Campbell, five children: Ray (Charlotte) Campbell, Hugh (Lesa) Campbell, Robert (Cindy) Campbell, Dianne (Reuben) Miller and Les (Jenny) Campbell. He has 17 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren and one enroute.
