Obituary of David Richard Duran
David Richard Duran, 88 of Hurst, TX, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2018.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 am Friday at Memorial Park Chapel, 8525 Mid-Cities Blvd., North Richland Hills. Interment and military honors will follow at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway Dallas, TX 75211.
Visitation for David will be 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm Thursday at Memorial Park Chapel.
David was born on October 12, 1929 in Houston, TX to Daniel and Ester G. (Gonzales) Duran. David proudly served our country with the US Army, 1st Calvary Division, 7th Calvary Regiment and is a Purple Heart recipient.
David retired from the US Postal Service – Main Post office Downtown Houston after 30 yrs. David had tremendous faith, a man of God and minister. He met his wife, Mary Louise (Rodriguez), when they were young children in the same church. He married the love of his life, in 1956. When she passed away, he kept a promise that God was in charge of his life, children and home.
He fought in the first year of the Korean War with the 7th Cavalry Regiment. When the 1st Cavalry Division attacked north, the 7th Cavalry was in front, smashing 106 miles behind enemy lines in an historic 24 hours.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Ester; wife, Mary Louise; brothers, Robert and Juan; sisters, Dora, and Velia Quintero; half-brothers, Richard, Daniel, Frank, and Rudy; half-sister, Janie S. Zepeda
David is survived by his son, Joel and wife, Gloria; daughters; Ruth and husband, Richard Buyers, Laura and husband, Kerry Blankenship; grandchildren Marissa Duran and Michael Duran; half-brothers; Charles, Albert, Benjamin, and Anthony; half-sister; Lydia Alvarado and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He loved his pups, Buddy, Sam and Sparky who assisted as caregivers and kept him comfortable every day. He asked for them constantly during his final days.
