Obituary of Lonny Roosevelt Wilderspin
Memorial services for Lonny Wilderspin (77) of Hurst will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Forest Ridge Funeral Home Memorial Park Chapel. Lonny passed away December 1, 2017 at his home. He was born May 3, 1940 to William Robert Wilson and Sophie Cleo Johnson in Bishop, Texas. He and his brother Lloyd were adopted by George and Ava Wilderspin of Haltom City, Texas when he was nine years old. As a teenager in the mid-50s, Lonny worked in the Fort Worth Stockyards, where he would have a small role in a booming livestock industry. Lonny was an accomplished athlete, running track and playing football for Birdville High School. Upon graduating in 1958, he went on to attend the University of Texas at Arlington on a football scholarship. He was a loyal employee of General Motors for 27 years and in 1995 took an early retirement offer to enjoy life on his farm in Milsap, Texas, surrounded by livestock and many pets. Lonny had the love and respect of so many family, friends and colleagues throughout his life. He was a strong man with a big, soft heart. He lived a long, full life and will be dearly missed by many.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his children Lonny Owens and wife Linda, Mike Wilderspin and wife Kristen, Cathy Gayle and husband Scott, Justin Wilderspin and wife Lisa, and Lindsey Wilderspin. Grandchildren Joshua Owens, Jeffery Owens, Jacob Owens, Zeke Wilderspin, Zoe Wilderspin, Camryn Gayle, Madelyn Gayle, Jace Wilderspin, Jayden Wilderspin, Grace Wilderspin, Rhett Wilderspin, brother Larry Don Wilson Prickett, as well as wives Cindy Barnes and Janie Stansell.
Lonny is preceded in death by son Ronny Wilderspin, brothers Harold Wilson, Silas Wilson, Billie Wilson Sr., Jerry Wilson, and Lloyd Wilderspin. Wives Sandra London, Betty Krivanek, and Cheryl Keefer.
